So, humor aside, I see no issue with paying $200 in 2025 for a day of music.

And that’s 2-3 times the apparent $8-12 ticket prices of 1970. Your calculator says a $12 item in 1970 would cost $99 in 2025.

Grateful Dead tickets in 1989 were typically $21. That’s about $54 today.

And let’s not even get started on parking, merch and concession prices.

Merch need not be bought. Parking costs do suck. In any event, think the price is too high? Do something else. I myself have stopped attending large expensive shows - I'd much rather support local acts in small venues. I've also stopped attending pro football, basketball, and hockey games. They charge what the market will bear and I can't bear it.

P.S. I'm smiling now recalling my dear departed grandpa's oft-repeated refrain, "Why, when I was a kid, we got twofers for the talkies - 2 for a nickel."
