When it doesn't fit anywhere else

This 50 or so y.o. made in Korea Mountain M-39 “lawsuit guitar” followed me home today. It cost me $200. Top and back are all laminated, not solid wood, hence the low price. But I dig all of its sound, neck and body shapes/feel, and cosmetics so I bought it. In particular, the sustain on the guitar is unexpected. It rings for a good long while with just enough early softening of the fundamentals to produce a beautiful resonant warmth. Truly, what you can get today still for a pair of C-notes is pretty cool.

Just got the guitar back with a pro setup. Holy schnikes, not only does it sound and play great, I was wrong on the top - it's solid wood. This is turning out to be the best gear score for me ever. :-)

While I’ve seen many acoustic guitars with laminated backs and sides, I don’t believe I’ve ever come across one with a laminated top. Laminated backs and sides can still result in a sweet sounding instrument. They are not relegated to only cheapo guitars. Nice score, Jon. Play it in good health.
