I recently lucked into finding a 1967 Princeton Reverb with an original JBL D110. The amp and speaker are pretty much in NM condition. The amp is just about dead quiet and has all the hallmarks you want in a vintage amp plus the tight, bright sound of the JBL.

I was hoping when I bought it that it would be close to this good, but it's exceeded all expectations.

If you find one of these in good condition don't hesitate.

Hey! Your video is one that inspired me to get a Sarno SMS Classic preamp! What a great video. I didn't do the McIntosh amp, I went with a MosValve to try due to it's smaller footprint. Still dialing in and might try some other hifi amps that I own.

I'm curious if you've tried the 100W version of The Amp from Milkman. I read it's a little more accurate than the 50W for Jerry, possibly due to having the built in boost. (50W has reverb & tremolo, 100W has reverb & boost) Though I'm sure you could compensate with a boost in the guitar or pedal.

As far as Grab and Go...
My main amp recently is a Carr Super Bee, which is a quality boutique combo amp based on a Fender Super Reverb, but stuffed into a small box. It does the Fender clean things, has treble/mid/bass and comes in 10" or 12" speaker versions. Carr is famous for their execution of built in attenuators and this one is a gem in that regard - anything from whisper quiet to small gigs can be done easily. I got the 10" as it's generally favored as a Princeton replacement. I love it but kind of wish I got the 12" so I could try one of my JBL E120s in it.

I have not tried the Amp 100. I've considered it, but I'm pretty happy with the 50. It's more than enough power especially when I use dual JBL cab, because ohms goes down to 4, which means 100 watt Class D wattage. I really only use it for rehearsals or small gigs, or as an amp for my non-Jerry guitar stuff.

I would benefit by having the dual reverb controls, but I already use a Caitlinbread Topanga for my main reverb with the SMS/Mac combo.

Have you seen his new JB40? Sick, but I don't see spending that kind of money and have when I already have 2 other options.

I have a fender twin reverb with altec s in it... she sings..... but I can't put my milkman down... it just sounds so good.. running it through single jbl e120
I have cabs around the house super easy to move around and dial in.


Have it in my kitchen with a mini 3 stack lol

Right now for my light weight Jerry rig im using:

1x12 cab with a Jensen C12K or N (Its the 100watt handling model).
Milkman 100
THe pedal that made the Milkman perfect for me was adding the JHS Haunting Mids pedal. Its like adding a mid pot to the Milkman. Gets MUCH closer to a Twin sound. Def made the Travis Bean sound much better thru the Milkman. Eventually ill get another JBL e-120, like what i have in my 2x12 cabs. But the Jensen sounds pretty good.

All of these are great ideas.

For practice I've been playing through a Super Champ XD, and at home a Vibro Champ XD. These are Fenders with a SS/digital pre and a tube amp. There's a blackface voicing and reverb. Just make sure to turn off all the crap effects and they sound great. The Super Champ XD has a 10" speaker which I use for band practice. I have a Milkman Amp 100 and JG40 and FYD pre and more - these little amps really rock. I got the Vibro for $30 at a garage sale and meant to flip it. But it's remained the go to in my studio to work out new material. For a gig I'd want a 12" JBL, but this weird outdated amp is shockingly good.

The whole setup would probably weigh around 21lbs and would get you very much in the ballpark tone-wise…could even use some Velcro strips to attach the amp to top of the cabinet making it *almost* like a combo. :^)

Can't beat a McIntosh mc50 and a sms classic tube preamp and a jbl you can substitute a quilter tone block for the mac and save a lot of weight but a mc50 is very manageable and very very dependable I don't know how to post a sound clip but you can hear mine on Facebook under jethro lovelight it is for sale in garage sale section rukind
