I personally think those songs fit an older/wiser/world weary Jer better becuase he can sing them with more conviction like someone that's been there/done that. He's like a Grandpa singing a great story by the camp fire. I just wish that he didn't screw up the lyrics so often on so many of those type tunes in later years. There are a precious few when they got everything right.

It's weird, I was having the same thought the other day but hadn't gotten around to posting the topic. I was thinking of launching a Scarlet>Fire to 69 and how crazy that would be. Or maybe a 72 Help>slipknot>Franklin's.
On the flip side I got to wondering how it would be if some of the older tunes would've made it back to the repetoire in the early 80's like the eleven, viola lee (on the topic of the other day), or an alligator with brent at the helm and drums/space in the middle.

Yes, makes you realize how much the overall sound changed, and the song choice, in the post-Pigpen era.
