I've been wondering with what other bands or artists did the grateful dead played with.

I know they played with bob dylan of course, i also knew they played with the allman bros. 2/11/1970 so i get it (amazing show). And also with Janis Joplin 6/7/1969.

But I would like to know other artists, did they ever played with phish, or trey, i don't know, or maybe just jerry.

Or any band, but i would like to know, so please help me thank you very much

They played with Stephen Stills on 4-16-83 & 4-17-83 and another time in '69 but I can't remember the date.

Do you mean played concerts on the same bill with and not necessarily had other band members sit in or had other individual musicians play on stage with them, on the same bill or not? Both or all of the above?

More special? They played with the Beach Boys once (great show), but I wouldn't call playing with the Beach Boys special. ;)

There's several pages in one of my DeadBases which list all the different people they performed with. It's quite a list.

But they definitely never played with Phish or Trey (while they were the Grateful Dead). And Jerry never played with either.

played on stage with them, doesn't have to be the whole band

Branford Marsalis.

Clarence Clemons. I have a video and a different audio with him, at least near as I can tell.

I just saw jck_strw's post. (darn asynch posting) Very good advice. DeadBase is the place to look for a lot of this type of information. Do they still publish it? I have an old copy (not complete) around somewhere.

It's out of print and new copies are rare, especially ones at a decent price.

AFAIK, no member of Phish ever played with any members of the Grateful Dead while Jerry was living.

The Who only shared a bill with the Dead but Townshend did play with them when they were in West Germany 3/28/81 (also co-billing).

The list of musicians that have sat in and played with the GD is HUGE... take a look in the back of most Deadbase volumes and they list them all.

everyone from the Beach Boys to Ornette Coleman...
