just wondering if anyone has heard "Grass is Dead", a local cover band in west palm that does bluegrass versions of the Dead. I thought they were great(ful).

I think they really have it going on.

FWIW, I play guitar and mandolin in a bluegrass band that covers Grateful Dead songs, so I might be a little biased.

Portland must be the "hippie bluegrass band" capital. There are too many to count, and several really are true bluegrass badasses. Some even have names that sound like they are tribute bands, like... Jack Straw: Dead band, right? Nope- bluegrass band.

I have seen Grass is Dead and Crazy Fingers several times at a campground about halfway between Naples and Miami here in Fl...Go to Dead cover bands and look at Crazy Fingers...a couple of the guys team up with someone else and they make up Grass is Dead. In addition to Dead stuff they I have heard them play After Midnight and Run Like Hell...Great Music....They are regulars on Fl east coast, see their Calendar...If your are in the area you will not be dissappointed!!

By the way...it seems like they play Trail Lakes Campground a few times a year...worth the trip! Relaxed atmosphere...not the Ritz Carlton but the music is great.
