Well there have been a lot of pedal posts and answers on my last one which was really helpfull but i was wondering about the distortion +. I know Jerry got it in '75 but its not clear to me what year any of them after are from. I found BYOC and wanted to build one, anyone use it for Jerry distortion? Or anyone have a Distortion + from any year they like? I was gunna buy and early 80's one but it was waaay to distorted. Thanks, sorry if this has been done i searched all week for a thread about it and didnt find one.

maybe im wrong but I think how distorted it is has to do with your guitar also. Like my guitar cant really get a clean distortion if you know what i mean by that. For example in broome county 11-6-77 during truckin he gets that fuzzy distortion thats not too distorted. Well mine goes from clean to In your face!!! distortion lol.

Single and Duals really play differently as they start to clip.

I've got a Barber LTD SR and it's the only clear OD pedal I've ever owned that keeps original tone and volume and makes each not pop that much more!

The MXR+ BYOC, as I understand it, is a good OD pedal and an easy build. You should check out the BYOC forums there are a few deadheads on there!

Yeah I just ordered the Digi Delay kit from there. So once its done ill review that and let you guys know how it is.

I had one Dist+ in my possession for awhile that for some reason could not produce an effect signal anywhere near as loud as that of the bypass signal... obviously, since you usually want your distorted tone to be a touch louder than your clean, this made the pedal virtually useless! Twas an 80's one afaict.

Last fall I could no longer pretend that my stock Boss SD-1 was cutting it so I started looking at different distortions that my shop sells... most (like the Keeley mods, T-Rex, Xotic, Radial, etc.) were out of my price range. I tried a recent MXR reissue that did not have the volume problem at all... but I wound up buying a BBE Crusher, mainly because for about the same price it comes very close to the MXR sound but with the added appeal of true-bypass (a feature I can no longer do w/o in any of my pedals), and has 3-band EQ. I guess that's my poor man's substitute for adding an EQ pedal after the distortion. I find it very versatile, anthing from a touch of overdrive to screaming metal.
