I think it was some sort of tribute to Edgar Allen Poe, who penned "The Raven" (i.e. - anniversary of his b-day or d-day)
Edit: (taken from the archive reviews)
I was at this show...took Amtrack from philly to baltimore for this show....
I love Edgar Allen Poe-so I had to see "my" band on Poe's birthday in his home city...THERE was something cosmic about it!!!
I loved this show so much that when I put on a outdoor show for my 40th b-day in 2005, I made sure Splintered Sunlight played this show!!
Being the show was put on at Halloween...WE did them one better and actually read the entire poem "The Raven" instead of Phil's NO2 inspired version...BUT YA GOTTA LOVE THIS EARLY 80'S GEM!!
