David Nelson and his band were scheduled to play at the Sitzmark in Girdwood, Alaska in mid march...apparently David is ill...and Bob Weir is gonna cover for him....three shows with 300 per show...$30 a ticket......should be fun....

So we show up for dinner at the Sitzmark about 3 hours before showtime.......and these guys are on the bandstand running thru some tunes for the show... Dead songs and they were going thru the changes/transitions...like the minor chord tag at the end of "Uncle John's Band" rolled into a long spacy jam....Bob played a strat (above) and a hollow body...never got a good look at the headstock on that...when he began the actual show he did two country bluesish tunes on a flat top...ha is one hell of a guitar player...he also did some "Blue Mountain" tunes with the band where he played an acoustic...playing with him were Barry Sless, John Molo, Pete Sears and Mookie Siegel with Katie Skene .

Heres another shot of the warm up/sound check/rehersal...it was neat to watch...sort of like "band practice in Bobby's basement"....
