When it doesn't fit anywhere else

It was on an old Harvard Lampoon Radio hour that Hunter S. Thompson is told by a spaced out hitchhiker that the Grateful Dead were performing on a barge in San Fransisco Bay and they were gonna cut it loose and play 'Truckin'' until they hit Hawaii. The same episode has a dead-a-like song about a biker. I haven't heard that for twenty-five years at least but it was pretty damn good.

It is agreed that the band’s longest uninterrupted performance of the song took place on December 6, 1973.
I'm checking this out now ...
Love Phils feedback stuff.
Its a very out there version ...
And then right into Eyes !

I keep multiple copies of this scattered about my life. It's on my ipod, my home computer, copies on disc in both cars. I think it's even at my mom's house on her computer.

I love how they get it together for Eyes after such a way out there Dark Star. Jerry takes a nice airy solo at the beginning of Eyes just to center himself and the band...

Unfortunately there is that nasty gap missing in Eyes. I noticed someone cleaned it up with an audience splice. Looks like I'll have to burn a new copy, cool. But that Dark Star should be essential listening for any Deadhead....

yeah, my original copy is from 2002. I see there's an updated copy on the Archive with a much less abrasive cut.

Cool!

I used to love those 70s space-outs. The weirder it got the more people would head for the snack bar or bathrooms- leaving more of that wonderful weirdness for me to soak in!!
