Hey there! It's great fun for me to keep refining my gear for the different types of gigs I play (large outdoor to small room). I've tried an embarrassing breadth of gear described here (Jerry tone wise). For me, I've lately stayed pretty similar in gear from gig to gig for a while now, and I've currently arrived at Super II (middle/split > SMS JG-1 > Mc 50 > (1) k120 as my main rig for medium to large venues. We mic my cab, and add me in anywhere in the system. The key for me is to get the K120 up fairly high off the ground and pointed at my ears. I can hear every subtle nuance from my rig, the soundman loves me (which makes for a killer gig), I've heard from the crowd that they like it way more (no crowd direct shot from the metal dust cap), and my tone appears to be more consistent from room to room.

I've now got (2) SMS JG1's, and would like to have a 2nd more minimal rig to use as backup, or reinforcement, and as a rig for when I sit in with other bands on crowded stages (I really like to have super simple gear in these situations). I'm thinking that pairing that JG1 preamp with a Rock Tron Velocity 100 LTD (40 watts), into a TT Purple Haze (40 watts). That's not cheap, but could be a super killer smaller/backup rig.

Anyone tried something similar (small power ampinto purple haze)?
