Got my tickets to see John Kadlecik (Furthur, Phil & Friends) this Friday in BK 11/13. Anyone listening to the solo stuff??

I am a fan.

I did not DSO until after JK left.

I caught only one Furthur show and I was tentative about the copying Jerry thing. In the room he did not sound like a copyist, of course did play in the style. like Art Pepper and hundreds of others played in the style of Charlie Parker without "copying" him.

The giants create genres. Bebop, jam.

But when I heard JK with his band in DC a couple times really appreciated his flavor in this thing of ours.

During last his weekend at the Cap when SJ was laying out, which was most of the time when he wasn't soloing - and I mean soloing because he didn't seem to get group improv, a four piece band emerged.

Bliss and space.

I saw John and his band last week here in Colorado. His bass player, Klyph Black, is an old friend of my drummer and her cousin Doug, so they took me to see them. I never saw DSO or Further, so I had no preconceived opinions about John. It was interesting seeing kids who were barely alive when Jerry checked out totally into the music. If I squinted a bit it almost felt like I was back at the Keystone Berkeley at a Jerry/Merl show.

While I'm sure John's bread and butter is the Jerry thing, I liked his original music the best and I hope he'll focus on it more and more. He's got a lot more going on then just the Garicia/Dead tribute.

It was great to meet Klyph and John. Good people and awesome musicians.

Anybody know the signal chain of John's current guitar rig?
