ok, I just got the EHX Slammi ( not the Digitech)
it's pretty cool but requires some real experimentation
and practice
I can get a somewhat decent steel guitar sound if I set it an octave up, totally dry (no mix w the original tone)
keep it there and focus on bends and vibrato with my left
hand.
that gives me a nice shimmering steel guitar effect
though i'm not sure what harmonic interval and wet/dry mx Jerry
used when he hit the whammy pedal in '93 on tunes like
Shining Star.
maybe 4th's mixed halfway wet/dry?
however he set it, there were often some flubbed notes
but I loved it anyway

I know it's a bit obscure but
any thoughts on his whammy settings?

im pretty positive its the 5th up 6th up setting. I love doing it it only really works with tones in the scale that have a whole step or it sounds really off. jerry was really starting to get good at it around spring 95

i forgot to mention I use a digitech whammy ii so not sure what the setting would be on other devices if they call them the same thing

thanks, I can adjust the amount of steps up or down
and even the mix between the original signal and the
modified signal

I have to say it's a very cool device but takes some practice and experimentation to see what
works in what context, it's not just a plug and play type
of effect but once I figure out what settings I like and how to accommodate
my technique then it will be super cool, like a new instrument almost
