Hey everyone, first post!

So I have a 67 Twin which I want to make into my "Jerry" amp/rig. It has original JBLs (which probably need some work if I want to play them at volume), and I play a strat with FCS 69 pickups. Outside of that, not much going on with the pedalboard BUT I am wondering what sorts of changes (if any) I might make to the Twin to put me more in the ballkpark (I'm thinking early to mid 70s tone)?

I realize this is probably an insanely broad question, however I had originally looked at Shakedown Amps and then saw all of the threads (which admittedly I have not read through all the way) that went sideways and so I thought I would ask and see what you all recommended.

Would you get a separate cab? Would you have any changes made to the amp?

Hello and welcome!

With a '67 Twin with JBLs you should be able to get some really good Jerry sounds out of it as is. Some others may be able to provide detail on the Jerry mods if you waned to modify it. I would first concentrate on the settings and see what you can dial in. There are some threads on amp settings here you should check out if you haven't come across them yet.

Yup, I have a Twin that I run stock when I'm using its tubes as the power amp and I'm happy with the Jerry tone through one JBL E-120 speaker using a middle pickup single coil on the guitar with a buffer/OBEL and using the following amp settings: Volume = 3 or 4, Treble = 10, Mid = 5, Bass = 0, Reverb = 5, Master Volume = 10, no brightness switch. Set your guitar volume at 4 or 5 and raise it as needed for loudness. You may want to unplug one of the speakers until you need the extra loudness (make sure to tape off the second speaker wires so they don't short). These settings are for the buffer/OBEL. If you don't have a buffer/OBEL then these settings will only be for your clean tone. For effects, you might want a volume pedal so that you can send full guitar output volume (i.e., full voltage) to your effects and then use the volume pedal to adjust your master volume. I don't think I would do anything to your amp that couldn't be reversed as its a nicer piece of gear
My Twin was real beat up so I had the speakers removed - mainly to make it way lighter at gigs - and put the amp in a cab.
If it's for home use just enjoy it but if you are gigging get a SMS
