Nice work by the Sabres to hold onto the President's Trophy. I thought there were some great games late in the season - the toronto-montreal game was great, and, as much as I hate to say it, the Avs really put some amazing pressure on the Flames.

So, what are some early predictions? As a Wing fan, I am feeling pretty good that we can get past the slumping, limping Flames. I was excited and nervous about having them meet the Avs in the first round.

Kinda funny that last year's Stanley Cup teams didn't make it to the playoffs at all..

What do people think of the Overtime Loss system? I noticed that both teams would play for the point if the game was tied late in the 3rd. I never thought I'd see so many teams be like the Wings and get to 100 points, and it did keep things close to the end of the season, but something seems wrong about it.

i was born a wings fan, but now I live in Atlanta, and I have got to say we have one amazing team. Our chemistry is finally almost there and we have a good chance of moving to the second round. I want to see either the Wings or the Sabres win it, they earned it this season.

At 49 I still play the game. I'm originally from upstate New York and been a Rangers fan all my life. Just bought an HDTV and my team is in it, so bring it on.

You and me got a few things in common there ronster. Rangers fans, both of us still playing, and from NY although I'm from just outside nyc.

Blueshirts are playing pretty well but were 1-3 against Atlanta this season. We'll see if they can stay consistent, their bugaboo for most of the year. At least Lundqvist looks strong. And some of the big guns seem to got it goin on at the right time.

Anybody see the end of devils islanders today? Great game with some high drama at the end as the isles had to win to get in.

isles up 2-1, devs pull clemonson (resting brodeur evidently) and with 0.9 left madden knocked in a rebound to tie it.

Nothing in ot and the shootout came down to the isles third stringer goalie dubliewisci or something like that needing to stop brylin for the win and as brylin comes in dubie as they call him pokes the puck away before brylin can get a shot off. The second successful poke check of the 3 attempts for dubie.

good stuff, although I despise both teams.

how 'bout them pens? talk about a young team filled with talent. my only worry is that they are a bit streaky and tend to have a shit game here and there, and that just doesn't work well in the playoffs. either way, i can't wait for things to get underway this wednesday, should be a blast!

Thank god this season is over. I knew going in that this was going to be a crappy season, but christ--we really crapped the bed this year. I was just reading the Philadephia Inquirer:

After about December, I was done watching them lose, but I took some small consolation in seeing that stoopid Carolina team suck ass. I'm sure all 20 fans are crying in their grits this morning.

I thought the Sabres looked really good all season, but winning the President's Trophy isn't going to help. ;)

I don't see one completely dominant team, so anything can happen. Being a Flyers fan, I can't root for (or even think positively about) any team in the East, so I'd like to see the Canucks win it all. It'd be nice to have a Canadian team win it.

How much longer till football again?

yeah, the Flyers definitely had it rough this season. I think at one point the Pens had over a quarter of their points from them. I gotta a lot of friends from the Philly side, definitely not pleased with this season's performance.

Being from Pittsburgh, I too am anxious for football to start back up. I'm interested to see how the team performs after such drastic changes have been made in the staff. jck_strw, what are your thoughts on Philly dropping Garcia? He was definitely clutch in the playoffs, but I do understand they want McNabb to be their guy. I still for the life of me don't get Reid's decision to punt in the dying moments of that game.

jck_strw, what are your thoughts on Philly dropping Garcia? He was definitely clutch in the playoffs, but I do understand they want McNabb to be their guy. I still for the life of me don't get Reid's decision to punt in the dying moments of that game.

I saw that Eagles/Saints playoff game while on a cruise to the Bahamas. Weirdly enough, we received the Denver feed for TV the whole trip. A premonition?

Anyhow, I can't for the life of me figure out wtf he was doing by punting that ball at the end of the game. Unfortunately Big Red is good for at least one completely boneheaded maneuver during the game and that was it. Granted, it shouldn't have come down to a 4th and long with less than 2 minutes left, but whatever. I don't think they would've converted the 4th down anyway, with the way they were playing in that 4th quarter.

Garcia being gone? I'm fine with it. So far I've not had any complaints with the way the Eagles have handled personnel (although I wish they had jettisoned TO after the Super Bowl). They obviously have a plan and they've earned my trust to do whatever they want. Garcia was ok last year--he did well. But there's no way I'd want him as a starting QB on my team. He's a great backup, but he wanted major $$$ to backup McNabb and there's not enough money to go around. I'm a big fan of the moves they've made so far this year. If everyone stays healthy (always the big question mark in football), I think they'll do pretty well. But time will tell.

The Sabres winning the presidents cup doesn't mean much to us, but the return of Connoly to our line up has the town and hopefully the team pumped. It should be an exiting tounament this year
