I might have asked this once before so forgive me for asking again. Is it safe to run my PR head into one 8 ohm speaker? Thanks Paul
The Schumacher output transformers used in all vintage and current amps can handle a 2:1 impedance mismatch...
with that said, yes...it is fine to run an 8 ohm load on a 4 ohm pro reverb output transformer...the tubes will generally run a little cooler at full load...
problems can occur when the mismatch is the other way( a 2 ohm load on a 4 ohm tap, a 4 ohm load on an 8 ohm tap, etc...) the output transformer will be fine but the tubes will cook and in most cases i have seen a tube will go, or a screen grid resistor, etc...long before the output transformer will cook out...
