So I have several pipes, 4 glass pipes and a wooden one. I clean the glass ones with oxy clean. but i have no idea how to clean the wooden one, and that is a problem because i smoke the wooden one the most. so any helpful tips on cleaning pipes, both wooden and glass?

At the risk of sounding stupid...pipe cleaners??

For glass, most folks I know use denture cleaner, such as polident. Seems to do the trick.

For glass try salt and rubbing alcohol. Pour a little salt in the pipe and fill it about 1/2 way with the alcohol. Shake vigiorusly. Repeat as necessary. I use this method and can remove 100% of the resin. Good luck.

I do it a lot like jeff, although I only own glass, no wood.

Alcohol dissolve the resin, salt is abrasive, and a pipe cleaner or two to pick it all up. Does the trick for me.

Does alcohol fuck up the wood?

For glass I've done:

--salt and alcohol
--boiling
--denture stuff
--pipe cleaners

They all work equally as well.

For wood:

--pipe cleaners
--buy a new one

i agree with chubby about using oxiclean with glass, when i clean my glass steamroller i bought from the trey show which is my pride and joy, i have yet to find something that cleans it better. as far as the wood pipes there are different ways i do it depending on the pipe. does it have a big chamber you can access or anything like that or is it a "directly exhausting" pipe? because when i had my "old man pipe" the bottom screwed off and it was easily big enough to get a butterknife in there to scrape it all out which helps alot in making the ball

I say spend the extra few bucks and get some Formula 420 at your local head shop. It will drastically cut down the amount of time it takes to scrub the stuff out if you use alcohol or something like that, plus it smells nice so you don't have to worry about tainting your aparatus, or aparatii if you will.

get some really hot water from the sink into a cup, and just soak the pipe in it for a while. maybe stir a little with some salad tossers.

the water shouldnt be hot enough to crack it.

its a real small wooden pipe, the bowl feeds directly to a 3inch long chamber. all one piece, i bought it for use at indoor concerts because its a slide top, I cleaned it a little with a pipe cleaner today, i wanted it to be clean and hitting hard for the umphreys mcgee show tonite.

little wooden bamboo skewers,(found at your grocery store cooking tools section) are a must have item for any toker. u can bend them a bit without breaking them to reach those hard to get to places.

or just roll a few joints before the show. no evidence (swallow it) in case Johnny Law comes a knocking.

The alcohol/salt combination has always been my choice for cleaning glass pipes, boiling water is also a good option. I dont know about wood though, I dont really ever smoke through it.

Last year I had to clean my plastic bong and I remembered
reading that acetone was great at washing glass. I was unsure
if plastic would handle it so I googled it and found a site
stating that plastic and acetone mixed well. After actually
doing it I found that alot of the plastic inside had "melted"
and twisted - there was plastic "spaghetti" in the bong and
it generally looked like someone had filled it with gross
snot. The bong still worked though, but I retired it just to
be safe. Lesson learned: Don't wash plastic bongs with acetone.

It works well on my new glass bong though.

last time i was smoking joints at a venue security busted me and just told me to stop. With the hash bowl I only have to light it one time and you cant see any flame so i feel much safer. The show was amazing and I made it home without being busted, which was awesome because right before the highway they had a roadblock set up.
