Anybody checked out one of their shows? The Youtube videos are a revelation. Chimenti and Kadlecik are really free to do what they want, Jay lane is great as usual, and Reed Mathis is someone new to me, but very interesting, especially with his unique bass solo setup.

Reed Mathis is originally from Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. I always thought Brian Hass (the keyboardist) was going to jump out of his skin while playing. Good stuff for Jazz Odyssey minded folk.

I went to see them at a private benefit gig in Brooklyn 2 weeks ago...I was kinda blown away. I have been checking out Kadlecik since early DSO days. With that said, he is playing ferociously and with a total sense of abandon, completely unleashed compared to Further, etc...

I also checked him out with Melvin Seals back in the spring and that show was completely off the chain....

The bass player in the Wingmen had everyone's attention including mine. Excellent player, killer chops...and great hair, what more do you need? He did a really unique intro to Loser running his bass through some kind of Polyphonic effect , maybe an Electro-Harmonix...it was very cool to say the least.

The band was really dialed in. Definately going to check them out again...

Saw them a few months back in Long Beach. Cubensis opened. The Wingmen were stupendous. Hope to see them in Felton in a few weeks.

I definitely got the feeling that Kadlecik felt more free to open it up. His playing, in particular the solos, are way more interesting to me in this band than in Further. Today I was thinking maybe it's due to Jay Lane. The drumming is just solid and slightly funky, easy to play with. Not trying to knock Joe Russo, but it's just a little more in the groove and perhaps easier to let loose with as the guitarist.

I just saw them at Pier 13 in NYC last Thursday, they sound great. Seemed like just an equipment check though, like they were just warming up for their gathering of the vibes shows this past weekend
