hey guys i am a usenet user and was wondering if there are any good newsgroups to get live dead shows on , i saw alt.binaries.gdead? it seemed kind of slim? is this right?

is there a better group to search in for stuff thanks,

That is the usenet group for Dead binaries.

Bit torrents are the best thing going at this time.

You might be able to find some FTP servers that you can access to download shows from.

Go to etree for advice on both..

if your experience how many shows are typically posted at any given time on that newsgroup , when i searched it at home i only got a few full shows ,

am i doing something wrong or is it way more limited than etree bt.

Yeah, Usenet binary groups aren't what they used to be. Everything is about torrents these days. Checkout bt.etree.org, www.tradersden.org, www.jeromesplace.net, www.dimeadozen.org. You'll find everything there (and then some) that you used to find on usenet.

yeah i just figured that recently ive been able to find tons of "stuff" unrelated to the dead that i couldnt find to download anywhere else through torrents etc, and its so fast and efficient, i can download a full 5 gig dvd in a matter of 2hrs i think,


i was really trying to find some may 77' run stuff and the show i wanted most no longer has seeds, oh well somebody might seed that up again,

How does one access usenet groups?

Look for a software product called freeagent. It has been years since I used it but at the time, it was the best thing out there.

You will then need to figure out your internet providers NNTP server names.

Configure Agent for ingoing and outgoing NNTP and off you go.

There are at least 60K to 100K usenet groups.

The non-binary ones can be accessed via the web using google groups.
