Hi there! I'm in search of a McIntosh amp for my rig. I've got all of the authentic gear from pickups through SMS preamp, k120's, etc..., except for a mac. I'm currently paying through a neck-through Carvin, but am waiting on my Troy Post Wolf in about a month or so. I gig a fair amount, and am constantly on the hunt for better tone. I've tried a Carvin TS100, a Mosvalve 962, and a Carvin DCM200l. The Mosvalve sounds the best imho, but I'm super interested in the mac. I figure the Mosvlalve or DCM200l can act as a great backup, or when gear transport needs to be minimal. I'm thinking Mc-50, or Mc-250 (stereo in to a 2x12 cab) would be the best way to go. Any leads are greatly appreciated!
Good luck! I run my SMS into a MC50, and it cranks a single K120 wonderfully! Plenty of volume for my needs. Hell, I can't imagine anyone needing more volume than what the MC50 delivers!?! If so, something may be wrong in your signal chain??? The Carvin DCM200l was great, and now is my backup.
I got mine on eBay for a mere $260. Worked great, but I replaced the electrolytics, and added 1/4 inch jacks myself.
