Hard to believe that was a decade ago(03?). The 646 number still works.
I took a relatively stock mexi Strat that has only an Alembic Stratoblaster installed, to a house party last Sunday.
Now guys... I've been back on a Pedal Steel kick lately, and haven't played guitar in months... so please forgive the rust...
But I am playing through a stock Blues Jr that was there, and I have the Blaster on the whole time (i am also running direct through an MXR Envelope Filter and a Boss OC-3, no buffer... because we also played a Stranger).
The battery is at least 6-8 months old, maybe more (it is under the pickguard, so not so easy to quick-change).
I am running the volume knob around 8-ish (and Tone knob rolled off a bit), not using a Volume pedal (I usually use a volume pedal on gigs).
I take a solo in the neck position at one point (sounds too dark to me), and I do some open licks in the bridge position, but alot of this is in middle position.
