The amp has both balanced and unbalanced, i.e 1/4" jack, inputs. This is pretty normal for amps that have balanced inputs, for the very reason you brought up. My guess is that the amp doesn't actually have a balanced topology internally throughout its circuit. That would be pretty unusual at that amp's price point.
Even if it didn't have unbalanced inputs you can buy barrel converters that you can plug a 1/4" male plug into that then will plug into an XLR socket. I had to do this with my mic to recorder on one of my setups back in my taper days.
