Sirius has the 5/11/77 show on and going out of space and into Wharf Rat Jerry does a 3-4 minute guitar solo with no one else playing- what in classical music would be called a cadenza. Is that a one-off, or did he do that at other times too? First I'd noticed it (and I have the 77 box set). Pretty cool.

This show contains a very nice example of a solo Jer excursion out of The Other One.

Notable for the Close Encounters jam and unorthodox St Stephen entry....very psychedelic, love it. Of course being in the land of Pranksters may have had some influence on the evenings events....

was going to post this as well. This is my favorite St. Stephen, the intro-less beginning is great and the jam at the end is transcendent

I always figured that maybe he had something new with the "pedal board" or his rig and this was his way off running it thru its paces
I am not too familiar with the whens and wheres of his " rack " though
77 - 78 ... they are a changing band ..... growing into the 80's monster

Jerry out there on stage alone ... wailing away
That must have been a sight to see / hear !
