My buddy Scott Walker builds this cool lap - console slide guitar called The Araya that was inspired by steel guitars from the 40s... normally his guitars are a one year wait but he's had this one put aside for a bit and offered it up today. I couldn't resist. Even though it's a righty -- he's putting a lefty nut on it for me -- I think it's actually more intuitive to play it lefty as the tone and volume controls are where you don't have to reach across the strings to get at them.

Has a Lollar Supro pickup, an Eastern hard rock maple body, a carbon reinforced beam running down the neck, hardshell case, vinyl custom cover and even removable telescoping steel legs to play it sitting down.

Steve Kimock plays one of these guitars and loves it.

I've been drooling over those since he started posting pics on his FB page. I'm sure it sounds as good as it looks. I've got a mid 50s Gibson Century and a less nice Kay from the same period. There a lot of fun. Are you gonna run it through your Fractal Jerry rig? Post some clips!

Here's the Kay (I found this pic on the intarwebs, mine os a lot more "used") - looks to be the same pickup, does Lollar make 'em set up like that or did Scott customize it? I'd like to gut mine and rewire it as it's getting kinda old and noisy and the pickup is kinda weak.

It's a Lollar Supro, which Scott attaches to that big block of aluminum.
