Junior high...good times, good times.

Don't get me wrong, I really don't want to sound preachy and ya'll are teens yourselves and free to feel anyway you wish, but when I was your age I felt like a bit of a misfit and at times probably tried too hard to fit in in places that weren't me. It took a while for me to feel comfortable in my own skin to the point where I was confident enough to be myself
Couldn't have said it better myself. I was in Junior High on Long Island in the mid-late 70's and it wasn't easy. I now teach middle school in Oregon and I see it everyday, the people who change overnight trying to be something, anything, just to feel comfortable and fit in. Sometimes it sticks and sometimes it's just a fad. It doesn't matter. I applaud those of you (and the kids at my school) who can rise above it and be themselves. I was that way in New York and when I moved to NC for High School, I was a total outkast, because I didn't care whether I fit in or not. It wasn't until college where people actually appreciated the fact that I was my own person. That made High School difficult, but not impossible.

I'm 37 and had I been into the Dead back in the early 80s I would've been tempted to jump on the train with them.

Hey, I used to sell my tie dyes at shows for years and years. If it weren't for the "posers", I doubt I would have sold very many. Hippies don't have any money, you know:)

I don't know, there's different levels of being into things, after all. Some people just wanted to put on a dye and be a hippie when the Dead were in town. It's okay; you don't have to be living in a converted school bus living on parking lot veggie buritos to get it.

All I can say about junior high is this: I have a great memory, and I have managed to essentially block out 7th and 8th grades from it. I remember it being a particularly awful, awkward time for everybody.
