I witnessed the boys (Donna was on maternity leave) for the very first time, at the Omni in Atlanta.
I went down and sat front row center before the show to scope out the wall of sound. Miraculously no one ever came and claimed the seat. Point blank range is a good way to watch your first Dead show! It was the first time they played Peggy-O in front of an audience.
I saw another 95 shows in the years to follow, but that first one kinda sticks with me.
Sorry....had to share.

Sirius has the Dead's Summer Jam show on today for the 12:00 concert. There is a good dose of audience in the mix and I'm having a laugh listening to people in the crowd of 1/2 million yelling "Hey man, sit down in front- we can't see" and "Turn it UP- louder!".

Meanwhile I was about 1/2 mile away in the woods, as close as I could get with my bicycle, listening to every note. :-)
