I forget exactly where I ran into it, but I think it was an interview (I love the philosophy Jerry seems to reveal in some of these taped interviews etc. but that's another story). He was saying that he did not use typical nickel plated steel strings (at least in concert), explaining that the ones he used had a higher magnetic value than nickel. I believe he said he used stainless steel (wrap). He also said the drawback is they wear out (go dull) very quickly, so he changed them before every show, sometimes even twice in one show.
I cannot recall if I have used stainless steel wraps before, I think I have though, but forget the brand/model. May have been "bright" something or another. I don't think Vinci makes strings anymore for electric guitar, or do they? Anyone swear by stainless strings here?
