Sounds good and crisp. So tell us about the rest of your rig. Your playing the Shakedown through the Boogie cab which is what kind of speaker? On board preamp or buffer?

Oh,just curious,what did you record this video with? Did you use the built in mic?

Hey guys...The rest of that rig is jbl k120 in the boogie cabinet and the waldo buffer w split super 2 in all mahogony Cort guitar. Def less spanky than a hardwood neck thru. I like having the warm Les Paul paf sound for blues etc. The video was shot w samsung s4 w its mic. James posted pics of his finished amp over in the cabinets section. Here are the speaker grills up on ebay if anyone is interested. Making some Shakedown Stagger Lee logos , and pot leaf logos soon along w other ideas. Please let me know if you have any cool ideas.

Shit sounds dank my dude, that is a damn sweet amp. That guy knows his way around a Fender amp to say the least & he is great at voicing them.
So far every shakedown amp I've heard has sounded excellent. What impresses me most is how close to Garcia's tone he can get it without a mac, which is close enough that 99% of people couldn't tell the difference. I imagine that thing preamped into a twin would sound exactly like Garcia's.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for that beauty? Even a ballpark would be cool, the one thing I have never seen is how much somebody's actually paid for them. I'm seriously considering buying one for my next amp.

I'm also wondering how it works, did you send in your amp & get it rebuilt into a shakedown or did you buy it directly of him? And are shaking down and rebuilt Fender amps or does he build them from the ground up? are the electronics and face plate mounted in a fender chassis ot does he make those too?
Either way those amps sound badass and i want one, plus his FB page says he's local to me which is a huge plus too. You must be stoked out on that baby.

You can send an amp in to Joe or have him put one together for you. Depending on which route you went, would impact what the cost would be. Hit him up on this forum or Facebook for a quote.

For mine, he did everything. He took a Fender Twin (That's a Fender chassis, with a new Shakedown faceplate), completely went over it with a fine tooth comb, put some magic into it, and we mounted it into a custom made Baltic Birch plywood cabinet. I also asked him to make me a speaker cab and mount some jbl e120's in it.... They both turned out great: forum/viewtopic.php?f=425&t=15608

What I liked about Joe's solution was keeping my rig simple. I LOVE the fact that I can do what I need to do without a power amp, but have the option of using one if I want to.

Yes I'm stoked. This amp is absolutely sick. Now I'm waiting on a wolf inspired build to be completed by Troy Post. Then the chain will be complete.

I'm here ..took a long break but back indefinately. If I provide a twin chassis and speakers (like in James" case) I charged 1800. Thats with the cabinet and dyes and freshly reconed e120's by the best in the business. I take my time doing them tho and the wait has been long for my last 5 customers. Getting the wood cabs done perfectly and locating some of the vintage parts I use can also be a challenge. The prices of procuring these items have been going up so prices are bound to go up a little. We have a set price for the mods if you send a chassis of any kind. Preamp Units of all kinds, Reissue Fenders , Boogies, Fuchs , Two Rocks, 100w Twin and the most expensive 135w Twins. All mods range from 100 - 750. That includes all new tubes. This gives you a rough idea of whats up. I have owned and tweaked all of the above and had great results thats why I'm continuing to do this. I want players to be really happy. If you're not , just tell me what you're missing and I'll try to get it there if you have a real sense of tone. Feel free to 'like' Shakedown Amps on Facebook to learn more and hear clips. I will be assembling more and more clips in the coming months. I am not doing this for $ really and I'm trying to have fun with my customers even tho they get tired waiting. This is all going to change as I get in the swing of producing more efficiently. Most of you guys sound great with your rigs already but theres just something very cool about having a nice Fender head/combo or a modified name brand that sounds better than all the rest. Current wait time on a custom build is 6 months and for more simple mods or repairs I do them within a week. If I know you and your welcomed to visit the shop (w advanced notice) we can repair or mod almost anything while you wait for slight extra charge. Cool joe thanks, i think 1800 is more than fair for an amp of that caliber, especially since you're voicing it for that particular customer, that's pretty much as good as it gets.

I would almost always be using it as a preamp to drivy macs but i love the idea of having a power amp that sounds good enough to run without carrying my mac & rack.
What do you do to turn off tne tubes? Do you just pull the tubes or is it possible to turn off the entire power section when only being used as a pre amp?

Both my 1978 Mark 2a boogie and my Deluxe Reverb have gotten the Shakedown Amps treatment. Joe does great work. In the Boogies case it is 1980 JGB All day long. Just an incredible sounding amp that Joe put over the top with some Resistor and cap type and value changes.

My Deluxe I wanted just made into a better amp in general (not garcia voiced) and Joe handled that as well.
