I was reading something about Frank Marino, who is an interesting guitar player. He does the most incredible versions of King Bee and Johnny B. Goode that you'll ever hear, along with some righteous Hendrix covers. Anyhow, I thought I'd share this recent quote of his:

I didn't remain as big a deadhead later on... my older brother still is, but I didn't stop liking them. I just sort of started getting into other stuff. But they did have a profound influence on me. As a matter of fact, one of the first songs I ever played lead on a guitar was Viola Lee Blues, if not the very first, from their first album. But, since I was doing that while in the hospital on acid, I was thinking it was my own song and that I was writing it.... and the rest, as they say, is history."
