Have 2 questions about some 1982 shows that hopefully some kind soul can help me with. Been looking all over the internet for a grateful dead forum.

1) Do I need 4/17-4/19? These shows get a lot of hype I keep reading some people say 4/19 is overrated and the Phil Space is all that makes it special and I also can't decide between 4/17 and 4/18. I only have enough for 2 more shows with the blank discs I have so I'm wondering between those 3 shows which is the best or should I wait till I can get all ?

2) Is 12/30/82 a must have show in your opinion?

4/19 was my first show so it will always be special to me. I'd say it was a pretty good show but as far as being an epic show other than the Raven space, probably not.

Thank you guys so much I ended up getting all 3 shows just so I have them. I have a follow up question - what in your guys' opinion are the essential "must-have" shows of 1987-1988. I'm pretty caught up to 1986 and have plenty of '89-'92 but 1987-1988 is a huge gap in my collection. Here are the shows I currently have let me know if there is a show in this period I am missing that is a must have or if one of these shows just has a spectacular jam or something but overall the show ain't that great.

4/4/87
4/19/87
5/9/87
7/6/87
8/23/87
9/18/87
10/3/87
11/7/87
12/27/87
12/31/87
3/16/88
3/27/88
4/15/88
4/30/88
6/28/88
7/2/88
7/17/88
7/29/88
12/31/88

Here are five must-have shows of 1982, by order of my own preference:

1. 4/14/82 Glens Falls, NY
2. 10/10/82 Palo Alto, CA
3. 10/17/82 Santa Fe, NM
4. 7/31/82 Austin, TX
5. 4/6/82 Philadelphia, PA

you should copy and paste your followup question to a new thread.

4/19/82 was my first show also, so I am biased but its a solid show with a very cool Space segment ('The Raven' - Edgar Allen Poe was from Baltimore, including Phil saying 'More Nitrous!' and something about the dentist). Pretty epic for my first show.

Small world! I was in high school at the time. My next one was at the Cap Centre in Sept with the Touch of Gray debut.

Dude, that's pretty cool! They opened with Playing>Crazy Fingers that night. I don't remember much from that show other than seeing some guys get the shit beat out of them by security. Totally uncool oppressive scene at the Cap Center as opposed to the Civic Center. Who knows? you and I might have danced right by each other either of those nights years ago!

I was almost at this show.
I was actually in the parking lot in the back of a camper with a fever of 104. I was just too sick to go in.
The only time I went to a show but couldn't see it.
