MP3's sound like crap if you don't convert them to wave.

MP3 is a lossy format. As part of the conversion/compression it drops some highs and lows. If you convert from MP3 to WAV you cannot get back what was lossed.

It's my recommendation when DL;ing to get FLAC or SHN sources since these are both lossless.

I <3 MP3

It's so damn close, I don't mind the loss at all. Especially with a nice high bitrate. Still so much smaller than SHN! Thats very important if you have over 50gb of music with no intention of stopping and you don't live in a hard drive factory.

One argument for lossless formats that I find kind of ridiculous is the "what if you have mp3s and you burn a disc and someone rips them to mp3 and burns a disc and someone rips those...". While those could pose some significant loss, I really don't think it happens very often. The vast majority of show sharing today is not done in that manner, its purely over the internet.

I am an advocate of this smaller format over SHN, proud to say I have several times downloaded SHN shows on Furthernet and after converting it to mp3, shared the mp3 version with the world.

Thank you for reading my rant. Save our hard drives!
