Just listening to the Dead channel on Sirius, they're playing an audience tape from Dec. 12, 1978, Jackson MS. Late second set there's a sublime Stella Blue>Not Fade Away transition like nothing I've ever heard. For a few measures it's the outro to SB transmorphing back and forth with the intro to NFA- like only the Dead can do. Two completely different types of songs, but they make a transitive fit like a hand in a glove. Brilliant.
