Here's a couple videos showcasing Jerry tone with and without a McIntosh MC250. In these videos my Guitar, the Twin Reverb, and the JBL cab are identical.
*Notable differences are: In the first video I was using an Ibanez TS9 (with analogMan silver mod) as an always-on 'grit' effect - I'm not using this in the second video.
In the second video I have a Waldo TPC-1 pedal first in line acting as my fx-loop. Also a couple different pedals in there (Klon and OC2)...
Other differences are camera (iphone) positioning and composition of the floor (wood vs carpet).

This first video is from March 2012, just after I got my super2s and sds1 installed (signal path: Guitar > pedals > Twin pre and pwr > JBL cab)



This second video is recent - June 2013 - just after getting the MC250 setup in my rig - playing a bit of 'Crazy Fingers' (signal path: Guitar > pedals > Twin pre > MC250 > JBL cab)

Can hear the difference with the mac immediately on those first couple notes...love that mac sound. Great playing as well! Are you using Es or Ks in the cab?

My TPC-1 buffer is in the Pedal (first in my fx chain) built by Waldo. It's the exact same buffer that John K, Jeff M, and many others have installed in their guitar, and that pedal also serves as my fx loop. I'm having a guitar made in the near future that I plan having Waldo's buffer in the guitar properly.

You can definatly hear the difference on those first few notes with the MC250.

I think you will always hear the difference between tube and SS amps. The comparison I am most interested in is McIntosh vs other SS makes like QSC, Ashly, Crest, Yorkville, etc.
