I have the older model, the RC-20. Absolutely freaking love it. Be prepared to lose track of all time as you play with it. Extremely useful for all kinds of things, can record cd's into it and slow the tempo down without changing pitch, just a great tool all around.

Plus, once you really learn to nail your timing with it, it can be a blast to use on stage, too.

I dont have a Boss Looper
but I have a Digitech GNX3 & GNX4 that I have a lot of fun with. It does not only looping but is also a full fledged multi effect pedal that does modeling too. So you can do things like take the signal from you guitar make it sound like a bass, record a nice bass line and loop it then reset you instrument voice to whatever you like and sail over it. might be worth taking a look at.

I have an RC-20XL. Its a fantastic practice tool especially for working on lead play or just as an easy way to hear yourself play and critique and learn from what you are doing. Its really easy to use. It does drain your tone somewhat and to fully maximize its potential u need to buy an external foot switch so you can change between loops on the fly. But all in all its definately a worth investment if you don't have a band on call to jam with 24/7.

Its sweet. You can load in multiple layerd rhythm tracks with guitar and drum tracks to play over and it automatically syncs the tempo and "quantizes" the loop to the right length.

Thanks for the imput. I really need to pick me up one of these babies. Does anyone have a reasonable priced effects processer that is also a looper with the programmed drum beats?

in addition to Digitech's fullboard-type units like the GNX3 & 4 (or 3000), there is their Jam-Man Looper compact pedal, which is a closer counterpart to the RC-20.
