i've been learning slide for the past couple months, but its been limited to country-style fingerpicking blues in open D.

i'd like to expand to rock/blues using a pick in standard tuning. any advice on some good dead songs to play along with, and possibly some licks? thanks!

There is a great tutorial DVD out there WITH WARREN HAYNES as the host. He teaches slide guitar in standard tuning from the basics to advanced techniques.

Check it out, it got me started on slide.

And come on, its Warren![/u]

Warren also has a book that comes with a CD. Iv'e been messing with it for a week now and it is awesome .(cheap too) I am amazed how much I have learned thus far, and how cool slide can be in standard tunning

Wow, I have the book and DVD and not liked them at all.

Maybe I'll have to revisit them since I formed my opinion
very quickly and never really revisisted the material.
