my 25th at Trinity in Hartford is this weekend and
I was planning n skipping it, due to a recent carcinoma found in my throat. However, I'm now thinking it might be very cool to have a Dead jam at the old DKE house there on
Saturday night. I don't know if any of you all have gigs or whatnot, but was wondering if there might be enough of an ensemble to pull something together? Any of you cats available/interested?

No pay, but there be food and beer/whatever your beverage of choice ; but I've only had the fortunate chance to sit in with Fennario a couple of times and would love to lay some stuff down with some of the rest of you if you could make it. This is really my last hurrah before going in for chemotherapy/rado shit, so it would be awesome for me. Wouldn't even know if it is possible till tomorrow Friday night, but thought I'd throw it out there...

Antywho's,

Peace,

Chuck

Damn Chuck, much love going your way.

I wish I could make it down... If you have the chance to get back up this way, let's jam again!

Chuck, first of all...good health to you mate, you're gonna skate through this!!!
Second of all, I would be Down for a jam in a second and could have pulled together a bunch of peeps for you to jam with.....but Im playing 10 miles away just over the mountain in Avon.... If you want to take a couple hour break from your festivities I of course would guest you and a couple friends....the other thang is that, depending how late you DKE nuts want to go, I would pull a couple band members down that way AFTER the gig (I go right through Htfd on way home)

First, thanks for the kind words, bros. Keir, if you did that hauling your Twin....well, we'll leave it at that and just hope you are on the mend quick.

Jeff, interesting proposition. Might be difficult to get over to the gig with all the rug rats running around, but if you're serious about swinging by after (when's the gig end?), I'm sure we could throw together some great jams. rusty is a possibility, and I may or may not have a drummer or keys. Give me a call at 202 2 seven oh oh one 7 5 to discuss? Would love to throw down with you sometime! The weirdness usually kicks off around 2 and goes till the roof caves in or some such emergency arises (I assume you are familiar with the Freak House?). Anyway, hope to ttyl.

Cheers,
chuck

Just for the record, the shortest notice gigs I have ever done were:

In college, my jazz/fusion band showed up to play a gig only to find we were double-booked with some other band. So we all trucked down to our favorite coffee house and asked if they wanted a band for the night and they said yes! Ended up being a really cool night.

Last year, 2 or 3 days after moving, I got a text from my drummer at about 5:00 pm: His buddy's favorite venue had a cancellation and his regular band couldn't do it, so we threw something together on the fly with him, me, Fennario's future (at the time, now current) keyboard player, and a trey-clone guitar player. In Portland ME, 2 hours drive away. Again had a great night!

My latest gig pickup was also probably my most (in)famous one  . I was at a venue to see an artist (went a little early cause I wanted to hang and try to meet him, was friendly with room and crew so hanging wasn't a problem) anyway, during soundcheck guitarist walked out and sound guy told "headliners" people I was a guitar player. Grabbed my axe from car and one hour later I was Rhythm guitarist for Chuck Berry!

Chuck, I'm sorry for not replying earlier but I just now learned of your cancer from this thread. I sent you text message to your phone number above to say I'm sending you good vibes and ask what I can do to help. I hope you're doing well. The Thankful Dads have our first gig with our new bassist a week from tonight, we'll miss you.
