Hey all. I am sure this question gets asked a lot, and I know that e-bay is probably the obvious choice to find one of these (I was burned on an E-bay deal awhile ago and I don't want to use e-bay if at all possible). But I was wondering if anyone had a line on a JBL K120 speaker. I had one (that I was intending to use) which mysteriously vanished from my basement when I used to have a lot of jam sessions there. It seems like this place is a good and close knit community and I figured this would be as good a place as any to find one. Thanks!!

Hey all...I still haven't found a K-120...I saw that one got posted and sold here that I missed. So I figured I would bumb this thread in case anyone else has one that they would be willing to part with. I also noticed someone was selling a D120 on here username Robe I think. I don't know much about those as I have only used the K120 that I absolutely love. Any info would be awesome!! Thanks!!

Yeah I saw those. Unfortunately they are 16 ohm speakers, and I am needing an 8 ohm speaker for my deluxe reverb reissue, and the only 8 ohm versions that I saw there were priced way out of my range.

Are you also looking for D120s? As i understand it, the Ds and Ks are both alnico, sound similar, but he K handles higher wattages. For you DR, I would think that the D would be okay.

I have a real beauty. I'm 90% sure it has the original cone. I actually have a pair, but I believe one is sold. I do want $175. + Shipping. I almost hate to sell either one, but I can't hoard everything I find.

Push? Do you mean into the sweet spot or overdriving?

I’d say yes to the push it into the sweet spot like it’s cooking but not overdriving!

That's what I'd put in there! Or a Weber NeoMag which is a D120F clone. But that's just me

Thanks for the info. I almost was able to buy a k-120 off of a board member here...but he ended up selling both he had on Saturday :(. So I am still looking. I saw a D-120 on e-bay that was in my price range; however, the dome is stamped WHF5100 which i beleive is a recone. Does anyone have any info on the recone? Is it still worth buying. He is asking $188 and the auction ends in a few hours, If anyone has any info on a recone stamped with WHF5100 I would greatly appreciate it, and if anyone knows of a good reasonably priced d-120 or k-120 I would be forever in debt!!

Don't know what you mean by "dome"? Are you thinking dust cap? Too many people say cone but mean dust cap

Honestly, I think any D120f you find will be reconed

I think there's two schools of opinion on recones. One says that most any vintage JBL with the original cone is in need of a recone or will be soon (unless it's been in a box for 30 years). The other is to be wary of how the recone was done. Weber seems to get top marks on recones. I recently figured oh what the hell and bought a K110 and a K120 on ebay, non-Weber but (two different) speaker shop recones, and I'm happy with both.

That looks nice to me! But I don't know much about the diff recones.
