I want to buy a crappy used electric guitar to keep in my office. I'll probably never plug it into an amp, so quality is not necessarily an issue. I know that this will differ a lot from state to state, but does anybody have any idea how much a used electric guitar goes for?

would it be possible to find one for less than $100?

you could go with a new electric for under 100, but u could actually get a higher quality used for the same price. so it really depends on whether u want a brand new but crappyish guitar or a used but higher quality guitar for the same price.

I bought a used Muscians Friend Rogue Tele Copy for 100 bucks, with an inexpensive bag and cord thrown in the deal, at a music store about 6 yrs ago.

Its no Fender, but it plays nice and stays in tune.
Its really lightweight too, easy on the shoulder. I think its just as good as any newer Squire tele. Prob. came from the same factory.

Its the only electric I own right now. Sold my Epi Les P. Custom and old 51' ES125 to help finance a new Mastertone RB3 banjo about 2 yrs ago.

Am now in planning stages for a new axe.
I like Fender twang and Gibson scale necks.
I Also want a hollowbody, or at least a semi-solid.
A trem would be nice, but not necc. essential, would depend on how much I like everything else on the guitar.
The old lady ain't gonna stand for nothing really high end, so right now I'm looking at:
Ibanez Artcores AR75s, w/or w/out trem.
An Epi 335, w/maybe a Bigsby.
or
A Standard tele.w/Bigsby or maybe even a B-bender. (That blonde 50s reissue is my fave but would blow my budget).
Standard Strat w/trem.

I'm really leaning towards the 335 or the Artcore, cause I really like a 24.5 scale. But I get Humbuckers for that.

Anybody know of a similar guitar w/single coil options on it?

if u like tele twang, gibson feel, and hollow bodies then the fender 72 tele (i think thats the name) might be perfect for you. its a little pricier than the others you listed, but theyre sweet. maybe u could find a used one

If your'e gonna go with anything on that Musicians Friend link, I'd go with the OLP. My friend has one and they have really comfortable necks.
