Ive heard a lot of mixed reviews here on phiga's anyone with experience care to chime in?

Keirweir owned a Phiga. I have never played one personally, but one thing that drives me nuts about his guitars is how he totally jams all the knobs and toggles together, they are often crooked or just not thought out well. You can see that on this particular guitar if you enlarge the photo showing the bridge and controls, those three toggles are stacked right on top of each other and very close to the pickup selector. When you are reaching for the effects loop playing live, you want to be sure what you're touching. Plus, it doesn't look great on the guitar, either. I don't know whether he just puts in really small control cavities and then has to shoehorn it all in, but there's really no excuse for it. The selector on this one is tilted slightly, one other knob is off at an angle.

The other thing I noticed on this guitar is the saddle for the low E is upside down and adjusted waaaaay off from the other saddles on the bridge, I'm not sure what's up with that but it looks like it might have some intonation issues.



This may be a perfectly good guitar, and when I looked Keir's the woodwork was pretty nice. Plus, the starting price is reasonable. But I'd ask about the saddle for sure.

I think the 6th string saddle is purposely installed 180 degrees rotation from the others (I once had to do this on the high-E string of a Les Paul to allow for more distance). The actual saddle where the string touches it is in line with strings 4 and 5, forming a similar diagnal as strings 1-3.
No OBEL on this one?

I have a Phiga hybrid. It's a very nice guitar. Solid build, nice aesthetics, plays/intonates well. I think they are a good buy for the money. They aren't as super-refined as some of the high-end stuff (alembic, walker, etc), but they are very nice guitars.

I might end up selling mine to raise up some money, but I would buy another one down the line if I have the cash.

Phil sells these for $2,000 normally. If it plays well, you can deal with the controls and the neck radius is to your liking $1,000 is a great price.
