Santana sounds great in this video, I do love his playing. But to my ear when Jerry takes over the jam just goes into the next level. Just great to have these two guys on stage together. I love Jerry's smile, he makes it look so easy and so fun.

Schooled might be too strong of a word because they really do play together very very well.

You can imagine how red hot the Cal Expo run was, two nights after this!

Accordions (and concertinas) get a bad name because of, well, there is some pretty lame accordion music out there. But those Cajun and Mexican guys can really make them work. Steve Jordan (not to be confused with Steve Jordan the badass drummer) was about as good as they get on the squeeze box - he passed away in August. I've got a buddy who's a great keyboardist who plays with us on occasion - he plays a mean accordion. I've been trying to get him to come out to an acoustic gig for a while - once his shoulder has recovered from a softball injury we'll get him out.

I like seeing Jerry playing with other folks like that - he didn't do that enough.

Jerry with out trying to do such, pretty much blows anyone away when they sit in with him. He blew a stoned Pete Townsend off the stage (OK maybe pete was too stoned to even be on the stage). Blew away Steven Stills once when I saw him. The reason is, as I am sure you understand is that Jerry could really let it flow and was comfortable without a net. Jerry could noodle forever and sound great.

The only time I have heard Jerry get blown off the stage is by Duane Allman in the Beat it on Down the Line from 1971 at the Filmore East. If you have never heard that one I suggest you check it out 4-26-1971

I'm in a minority but I can't stand Santana, both playing and tone (which is dissappointing since he spends $30000 - or whatever a Dumble is worth now days - on amps)
