This guitar has been discussed before and I know that it was available on craigslist but I just saw the ebay auction and I thought you guys might be interested. 15k seems reasonable to me

I gotta wonder why the back features beautiful wooden covers and the front has the ugly (IMO) metal plate.

Because the back plate appears to be the original wood before cutting out the control cavity and in the pic the metal plate doesn't appear to be there their I'm guessing someone decided to add more switches and carved out that spot through the front of the guitar.

photo). #3-The brass plate, designed by Doug Irwin and installed by Rodney Albin was used to repair the guitar when the input jack which was originally located on the front of the guitar was damaged. The decision was made to cover the damaged area with the plate, mount the toggle switches on it and relocate the jack to the usual side location of the guitar as it is on Gibson Les Paul’s. (See photos).

Now Tennessee, I wasn't hittng da pipe when I posted that. (Not that I would mind )

I guess I meant the same skill that could build the covers in the back could do a more aesthetic repair.
