Anyone have a Line 6 Spider or Spider Valve amp?

I see these going very cheap on CL all the time around here. I know they aren't gonna be as good as other mainstays but wondering on the overall quality. I tested one out a 1x12 GC recently and felt like it could make a nice back-up/ combo stand at gigs!

Anyone with any practical experience?

My rhythm guitarist uses a line 6 spider. He loves it. I dont really care for it. I have played it many times and I hear it all the time. What I dont care for is simply the tone. He hasn't been able to dial in a tone I really like nor have I. He likes it so it is fine with me.

One thing on the very positive side I can say is that it has been very very reliable. It gets knocked around and transported a lot. So he feels that alone makes it really worthwhile especially since he sees me always messing with my tube amps and the trouble I have with them.

I use a Spider at home for practice as I can get a decent tone at low volume. I doubt I would use it at a gig. My gig amps are, in order of loudness, an original Fender Super Champ, Dr. Z MAZ 18, and a Groove Tubes STPG (about 28w).

The Spider doesn't have any of the dynamics of the above named amps, but it is decent and I would consider it fine for a backup.

Just my .02
