Hi all,

I know Modulus is of interest to some folks here, so I thought I'd post some pics of my Genesis. I bought it 10 or 12 years ago I think, can't remember for sure. I'm always trying to find more info about this guitar line, but it seems not a whole lot is around. Modulus' website seems to be strictly bass these days. Here are some pics, assuming I put them in here correctly... Is anybody here familiar with these guitars?

Nice guitar. I HAVE the exacte model, G2 Pro. How do you like those Dimarzio fast-track pickups?

Ah, knew some people here would have the goods! I can't recall for the life of me the types of wood used for the body/neck/fretboard. I want to say it's a mahogany fretboard, but I just can't remember. And concerning the coloring, are/was yours similar or completely different? I haven't seen another one these around, so I don't know how much they vary from one another. Strummin, if yours is done up differently, would you mind posting a pic or two?

Did either of you guys do any extra work on yours?

I can't say I'm interested in selling it. It's one of my favorite guitars to play. There's just something about I haven't gotten with other guitars. What caused you to part with yours?

Concerning the pickups, I'm quite a fan. Plugged into a good amp the thing just oozes goodness, wouldn't you agree?

or maybe Rosewood is in there somewhere...?

Here are the specs on mine and I'm guessing yours is the same:

Regarding the pickups I found them to be too harsh like they were designed for some heavy metal guitarist. I think mine were the Dimarzio fasttrack something or anothers.

Don't know how I missed that original post. I assume our pickups are the same. I haven't thought about changing them out to be honest. I've generally been able to get the sound I'm looking for with a bit of tweaking here and there on the amp and guitar. What do you think of yours with the new pickups? Did the change make the difference you were hoping for?

Looks like I was completely off regarding the wood. The graphite in the neck is about all I remembered, though I'm sure anybody would get that with a single glance.

the color is called Bluestone they made this only for the G2s. Mine was blue also. I had to sell mine for personal reasons. I wish I had another one like it though. Strummin got a sweet deal on his, I have heard he loves it!

I am so happy with the change! That and tougher springs! World of difference.
They are custom wound Strat style pickups. But she doesn't sound like as Strat.
The woods and overall composition would prohibit that!

I am thrilled! I can get both Strat and Tele like sounds but she is still unique

Ah, Bluestone! That name has been eluding me for so long. I can understand your want for another. It's definitely a quality instrument. Has Modulus completely made basses its sole focus now? I haven't seen guitars in its catalog for a long, long time it seems.

Tougher springs, eh? I wouldn't have thought to make that change. Then again, I've never really done any work on my guitars, save a pickup swap a long ago.

When you decided to make the pickup change, did you end up researching manufacturers of the style pickup you wanted or did you already have something in mind? From your many posts on this forum I gather you know quite a bit more than the average player when it comes to modifications and how to tweak things to get the sound you're looking for.

I'm now intrigued and am contemplating changing things up a bit. After all, I've had it as is for so many years, it might be nice to get something fresh out of it. Any advice you could offer up concerning pickups and good companies to go through would be greatly appreciated. I think at the moment a google search for a type of pickup is about all I'm capable of and I feel that it may not yield the best of results.

Anyone, feel free to chime in about the pickups. I've seen so many of the beautiful builds on this board, how'd you make your pickup selection?

Steve, over the years I met a family who does true luthier work from top to bottom including pickups. I had one of them do a setup and we talked tone and setup and playability. I had some tuning trouble until string settled and he suggested stronger springs. Then we were chatting on pickups and he had a vintage Strat style set. I got a money back guarantee so I took it and it was the best decision for me!

She also is much better on slide I think the springs help alot and the pickukps are like a cross between a sweet single coil mixed with a bit of Tele and a bit of Strat!

According to Anderson there will be no more guitars built. They will only build basses. Then some folks, I won't name, them have ordered custom shop guitars. I myself do hope they bring back a guitar line at some time. Wait and see I guess.

Good contacts to have for sure. That's great that your modifications achieved what your were looking for!

Concerning pickups, I've been doing some searching and the two main companies that pop up are Dimarzio and Seymour Duncon. Each, of course, have a vast array of Strat pickups. Is there any clear difference between the two companies? I know they're both reputable manufacturers, but I'm not sure whether either of them are known for something in particular.

That's too bad they've halted production with no future plans to resume. Over the years I've gotten quite good at waiting for things - lucky me - so I guess I'll do the same with this.
