But this band called Immortal, or something like that, has a bunch of fake cabs:

I have heard about bands doing this for years but never actually saw proof until now. Many of the big name touring metal bands have/ had some sort of endorsement deal w/ Marshall. But the logistics and practicality of the wall o marshalls went passé long ago. But the fans still expect the spectacle.

I have heard that more tha one act would have the wall of marshalls but the amp actually used was a cranked up ac30 mimed up behind all of the dormint marshalls.

I guess the GD's rigs in the early 70's were more like a mini-wall with all those stacks of amps and cabs but by the late 70's and 80's Jerry's rig is already like that "hidden behind" amp. Just a (relatively) small amp and cab (no more than a half stack)...

I saw Van Halen on the 1984 tour and Eddie had a pretty ridiculous wall of Marshalls - too many for even a Van Halen show - if they were real, they weren't plugged in.

I like jim's idea, a wall of sound, Further had the banner or life size picture of the wall behind the stage that Vic posted one time. Just how impractical it would be to have that many D120's, 130's and such these days. That's pretty funny that bands actually put up a front of marshall amps and use a completely different system. That's kinda wrong in my mind, and would piss me off if that was my favorite band and I was trying to nail their sound like we do here...

I know AC/DC has the faux Marshall thing going on. I'm sure you can get plenty of sound with 2 or 3 amps and a PA system. AC/DC was by far one of the loudest shows I have ever seen btw.
