I can't think of a song that is more fun to play...Any and every time I pick up a new guitar (or someone else's) to try out, I instinctively go through that A-Asus4-A-G progression.

Me Too!

I love this song.
Do you play that progression barred or open. I find it easier to catch the rhythm through barre chords.

A woman to love next thing there's a fire (2ndverse)
and
Then old man oold friend of mine
Allgood things in all good time
DADADADE (ENDing chord progression, thunderous)
This is the way the lyrics and music is played in the Jerry Garcia songbook
3rd verse

Really? I don't have the book and I don't doubt you can read, but You're warming to love next thing there's a fire seems to make more sense.....warming/fire.
Then old man, old friend of mine definately seems correct.
