They make 10 times more profit per barrel in the gulf than Russian and European coasts due to the regulations,taxes and oversight they must adhere to there. Our government has allowed this to happen unchecked and unlimited, what ever depth they want, how many as they wanted to put up. it is now littered with them out there and that's a recent thing. This is only the first of a few we will see in our lifetime since they are everywhere now and they are drilling to depths no one has even tried before. All this money being made with little money coming back to us, actually my tax dollars going into the process with tax cuts and no lease obligations for them, now a clean up and a lack of a huge wildlife and relaxation area I shared with my family and children. the white beaches will be brown for decades to come. Remember this is 40,000 barrels per day were on day 52 and it won't have the relief well drilled until mid August. That is the Exxon valdez times a million. this is nuts. We should all be outraged enough to drive golf carts or something. We are literally being raped by the oil industry, I have watched it here for the past ten years. Its going to be like a thousand exxon valdezes by the time its through, unfathomable.
OK sorry for the hijack but I am so friggin' mad I cant help myself. I may just move from here since I just can't bare to live in a state that whores itself to Haliburton and the like for the sake of a few fat men that care only about making obscene amounts of money. Not a good living, but an obscene amount of money while we all watch and get the shaft.

Until we can use our critical thinking skills, and genuinely care about each other, and treat each other as we would like to be treated, in fact, not theory, this is what we will continue to get. We have the tools to make life really great. Why pick up a crescent wrench when you have a 9/16ths and that is what's called for? Why can't we focus on real solutions, instead of just the appearance? We can only each be doing well if all are doing well. We have the resources, the ability, and the means to make it happen. Until we have the motivation, IT WON'T HAPPEN!! Common sense 101.
