Very excited about this. Having recently obtained my long-awaited Philtone Jerrycaster, added some new Weber NeoMags to my SSP Jerry 2X12, and being happy all around with my Line 6 M13, the missing piece has been the head. Tried a couple of other options but came around to accepting that the SMS Classic/JG Mods is what I really want.

Am planning as of now to mate the SMS Classic w/a Rocktron Velocity 300. I've simply been hearing great things about it and it's so inexpensive if for any reason I'm not satisfied with it, I figure I'll just sell it and try again. I am open, though, to additional suggestions, e.g., Carvin TS-100, MESA tube power amp, others?

Can't seem to scare up info on size & weight of the V 300- even in the specs in the manual PDF. You happen to have that info?

It's 1U, 9.5" deep, 18.7 lbs.

Nice Jon, you'll be happy with that. You will have plenty of head room with the SMS and a velocity 300. I was actually looking into the 100 since I use a 100 watt now with the pre twin head, and I am LOUD at 3 or 4 on the power amp and 3 or 4 on the pre. I am not sure how much more power the pre adds, but it does with some to spare even with a 100 watt amp. The 300 looks like a better choice now that its smaller, ideal for powering multiple cabs in stereo off your own rig if the need bees. I did all the mods to the twin that waldo suggests and the sound is great. I can only imagine yours will be better, if that's possible! Congrats, and the velocity shouldn't be a bad choice for you in the end.

Now all you need is a rack to put it in!

I'm planning on copping a Gator GR-6S and loading it with the RV 300 on the bottom, space, SMS Classic, space, Furman 1215, space. I know the plastic Gator is not as strong as a wood/metal road case but it's much lighter and I don't tour in a way that would make having the extra protection useful to me in any practical sense.

What is your stage setup going to look like? What are the feet like? My old SKB had very small hard plastic feet. Plastic slides very easily...

Not certain but it'll probably be my SSP Jerry vertical 2X12 with my Avatar 1X12 next to it and the rack on top of the Atavar.

I'm not the least bit concerned over any potential slipperiness. There's more than one way to skin that cat (rubber feet, velcro, etc.).

Nice setup! Ran one like that before. You are very right about multiple solutions, just want ya thinking, bro, that is all!

Too often I've come up with "solutions" that end up being a pain in the ass a dozen gigs later.
