JD was kind enough to find this listing of vintage HT bass cabs for me: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/msg/1754962139.html

So you can see that I have to own these. :thewave: The seller is responsive and appreciative that they're going to a Deadhead musician. The problem of course is that they're in Seattle and I'm in Boston. The other problem is that he doesn't have paypal and wants a money order... I'm a little uncomfortable sending a $750 money order based soley on a CL ad.

Has anybody shipped anything this large without it costing an arm and a leg? Anyone have ideas about safer ways to pay? Maybe an escrow company or something?

Rusty, maybe offer up any RUKINDER a middleman bribe?

They'd take 3 hits: Paypal fee, shipping/handling fee, time

Im not sure about the Money Order, buyer beware! But you should call trucking company's like ODFL, Yellow freight, even FedX for freight shipping charges, Have the guy throw those on a pallet and wrap and band them. It will be cheaper than using UPS or the mail, although UPS does ship freight. If you can ship them to a business instead of your house it will also be cheaper. Good luck I hope you get them.

There are couriers who do this sort of stuff for eBay.

This is looking promising... my quickie google search brought me here: http://directory.uship.com/generalgoods ... n/Seattle/ I wonder if I could pay one of them, and have them pay the seller whent they pick up the cab? One-stop shopping.

Sweet find Rusty. Way to keep this stuff in the family and alive. Who knows what some heavy metal head that may not appreciate history would do to such an heirloom, he could have busted out the speakers and burned the boxes due to their oldness.
:peas: but thank Yoda the force saw fit for them to come to you. :peas:
