Not Dead related, but I'm still stoked

I'm teaching a careers class in high school this year and it's all Juniors and Seniors and we're looking at what to do after HS. We worked on resumes, job applications, financial aid for college, etc. I also bring in guest speakers to talk about their jobs (benefits, why they got into it, how they got into it, enjoy it?, requirements, etc.) I called on a bunch of friends to come (vet, realtor, mechanic, doctor, computer programmer, etc.) but yesterday was a coup.
One of my favorite alternative bands was the Pixies and I followed the solo career of their leader, Frank Black. He has always struck me as articulate, a good songwriter and has a nice voice. Plus, he can scream with the best of them. (and bald, fat rock stars give me hope!!) I had the good fortune of running into him here in town where he's been living and never one to pass up an opportunity, I invited him to come and speak to my class--and he did!
He talked about the music industry and how it's changed, he talked about art vs. commerce, he told of flying on private 747's with U2, he brought cd's and albums to give out and was very gracious and fun. Half the kids never heard of him but a few knew exactly who he was and really dug it. It was great! He came early and had lunch w/me in the teacher's lounge. Only one other teacher on staff knew who he was so it was pretty humorous. Anyhow, I just had to share. I'm still stoked!!
