That's absolutely beautiful!

I remember a '80's Carvin birdseye stereo guitar that a local music store had for sale--the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen. The price was too high, so it took a long time for me to decide...over a year. It sold shortly before I made my mind up. I play bass, anyway, but for the beauty...! This is comparable.

Thanks! She is actually a long work in progress. Working with the Rice builders in Illinois.
I ended up doing a trade with my Parker for one of their guitars that I never did bond with.

Then we started talking about what I like, don't like, why, what I hear, etc, etc, etc........
We invested every bit of 10 hours or more qualifying and quantifying my needs and wants.

One of the interesting things was about wood and impact on tone - specifically mahogany.

The design is: ash body, lacewood top, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard.

Today, she is coming closer to fruition.

SS--I really like that guitar. It seems to want to "breathe" if you know what I mean. Very nice indeed.

I was looking at the word "Rice", and noticed that it looks like he veneered the bottom of the neck rout? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but why bother?

You can see a little ash on the edge. and in the first pic, no veneer. Very interesting.

I have yet to see a guitar like that, lacewood-- I've heard of it but never saw it like this!! That is just stunning! Extremely beautiful. In my business people always rave about the maples and mahoganies for the wood work I do, this is much more attractive than flamed maple, it has a 3D kind of depth to it, like a tropical snake. Nice!

I know!! When I was hanging out at his place talking woods and tops he mentioned it and I flashed to the striped sponge look of those older PRS guitars. Then saw it, he wiped it with a damp rag and was SOLD! I am loving it!

What I'm finding awesomely unique is the center section, at the join, gives it a look of center strip, sorta, kinda, but not!

That's where the 3D gets funky! right in the middle like its being sucked into the abyss and all the other 3d dots are following it. Its a trip for sure and you got a piece of wood with "character" as they would say in the wood world! It looks almost fluid. Look there, you learn something new everyday! I'm happy for you man, Jboy
